Sokcho Coast Guard Issues 'Caution' Alert for Safety Accident Risks Starting 9 PM on the 28th

[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Sokcho Coast Guard announced on the 28th that "from 9 PM, strong winds and high waves (up to 4m) accompanied by swell waves are expected along the East Coast, and therefore, a 'caution' level warning of the Coastal Accident Risk Forecast System will be issued."

The Risk Forecast System is a policy based on the 'Coastal Accident Safety Management Regulations' that informs the public of potential dangers when there is a risk of coastal accidents due to weather deterioration or natural disasters in hazardous areas of dangerous waters.

Sokcho Coast Guard plans to request related organizations, including local governments in the jurisdiction, to close access points to dangerous areas such as Jukdoam Coastal Walkway, Sokcho Port Headland, and Sodol Adeulbawi, along with disaster broadcasts due to weather deterioration and swell wave inflow.

Each police substation will strengthen patrols focusing on areas with a high possibility of coastal accidents such as beaches, breakwaters, and coastal roads during the holiday season safety management.

A Sokcho Coast Guard official urged, "Due to the worsening weather along the East Coast, high waves may reach the rocky shores, breakwaters, and coastal roads for the time being, so please refrain from entering dangerous areas such as coastal areas and breakwaters."

So far, Sokcho Coast Guard has issued a total of 17 risk forecasts, with 36 coastal accidents occurring in the jurisdiction, resulting in 7 deaths.
