[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan Port Authority (BPA) hosted a session inviting university students who will be the future leaders of port construction to experience the vivid site firsthand.
On the 25th, BPA invited 45 professors and students from the Department of Civil Engineering at Korea Maritime and Ocean University to conduct a site tour program of the ‘Busan Port New Port West Container Terminal Construction Project.’
The attending students toured the lower construction site where land reclamation and ground formation were carried out on shared waters, as well as the upper construction site that will be transformed into a smart port, guided by site officials.
Afterwards, they moved to the safety education center to hear about the construction status combining various types of work at the Busan Port New Port West Container Terminal, gaining an opportunity to directly observe how the theoretical knowledge learned at school is applied in practice.
Min Byung-geun, Head of Construction Division at BPA, said, “I hope this program helped students enhance their understanding of port construction and engraved in their hearts the aspirations they should have as future construction professionals. We will spare no support to strengthen student capabilities.”
