Utilization of Military Land, Creation of Forest Healing Spaces ... Establishment of Forest Welfare Infrastructure
On the 28th, Jeong Jong-bok, the mayor of Gijang County, is listening to the project explanation at the Jang-an-eup Healing Forest construction site.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Jeong Jong-bok, the mayor of Gijang County, visited the site of the ‘Jangan Healing Forest’ development project located in Myeongrye-ri, Jangan-eup, Gijang County on the 25th to inspect the overall progress of the project.
The ‘Jangan Healing Forest’ development project is creating a forest healing space and establishing forest welfare infrastructure in the Jangan-eup area of Gijang County, where improvement of quality of life is urgently needed due to the concentration of nuclear power plants and industrial complexes, attracting the interest of local residents.
Gijang County plans to build a meditation forest, forest playground, and walking trails within the project site to provide a forest healing space for residents exhausted in the post-COVID-19 era and to revitalize the local community.
Additionally, a space for infants will be provided, expecting to create a healing space used by all age groups. It is also anticipated that the usage rate will be high not only among county residents but also among residents of nearby areas such as Ulju County.
After touring the healing forest construction site, Mayor Jeong Jong-bok said, “The healing forest will be a representative forest healing space in Jangan-eup. The responsible department should make every effort to minimize forest damage and facility installation to improve residents’ living environment and create a healing space.”
Gijang County secured a budget of approximately 1.4 billion KRW in 2022 to develop the healing forest, including the forest playground, and plans to complete the project in the first half of 2023.
