[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] As the Democratic Party of Korea demands the dismissal of Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min, who is responsible for the Itaewon accident, and has announced direct action starting from the 29th, ruling party members of the special committee for the state audit raised their voices, saying, "Withdraw the dismissal demand immediately."

On the 28th, ruling party special committee members for the state audit, including Representative Lee Man-hee, stated in a press release, "Stop the political maneuver to use the Itaewon disaster as a catalyst for the resignation of the Yoon Suk-yeol government."

The members said, "The Democratic Party, which is scheming to politicize the 'Itaewon disaster,' has not changed," adding, "They are leading the state audit to a deadlock even before it has started."

They also urged the opposition party to withdraw their demand for the dismissal of the Minister of the Interior and Safety, saying that the opposition seems to have set a goal and is demanding the dismissal as if they were only waiting for the state audit agreement.

The members said, "People Power Party state audit committee members can never agree to a political state audit without such measures and are also considering resigning from the committee," adding, "We will do our best to block the Democratic Party's malicious attempt to politicize the Itaewon disaster and to uphold the people's will for a thorough investigation and measures to prevent recurrence."
