[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, was selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's '2022 National Happiness Civil Service Office' for demand-oriented civil service through spatial innovation in the civil service office and received the Minister's Award. This is the first time for a basic local government in the Incheon area.

The National Happiness Civil Service Office is an award system established in 2014 that annually evaluates and selects administrative agencies with civil service offices nationwide, including metropolitan and basic local governments, education offices, police stations, and tax offices, based on internal and external environments and services.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to continue strengthening incentives for the evaluation of key civil service policy projects and efforts to improve the environment of re-certified institutions to establish demand-oriented civil services.

The Ministry selected certified National Happiness Civil Service Offices by measuring 26 items across 7 indicators in 4 areas: space, service, experience, and satisfaction, through document review, on-site inspection, and customer satisfaction surveys.

Last year, Yeonsu-gu attracted attention with a major spatial innovation of the civil service office reflecting universal design, the establishment of a 'Direct Processing Team' for one-stop civil service processing, and various convenience facilities for socially vulnerable groups.

They installed a playroom and nursing room for infants and toddlers, a civil service consultation room for in-depth consultations and privacy protection of civil petitioners, and created a comfortable civil service environment with a book cafe and rest area.

Additionally, for socially considerate individuals, they installed civil service information counters with adjustable desk heights, a floor-style civil service writing desk, and essential standard unmanned civil service issuance machines for the disabled, receiving favorable reviews for demand-oriented spatial design.

They operate the resident life convenience map 'Baekmunibulyeoiljido' on the district homepage to provide themed information, and actively developed and operated digital civil services such as a 24-hour real-time guidance and unmanned enforcement system for illegal parking in disabled-only parking zones.

Lee Jae-ho, Mayor of Yeonsu-gu, said, "We will not be complacent with the National Happiness Civil Service Office certification results and will do our best to create a differentiated civil service office environment and provide services so that residents can enjoy civil services safely and comfortably."
