Damyang-gun, Former Seoul Office Chief and Aide to the People Power Party... Significant Effect in Securing National Funds

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 28th that it has been operating a Seoul office since last September to establish a close and organic working system with the National Assembly and government ministries, and to secure national funding for pending projects.

The Seoul office is a key policy initiative of the 8th elected administration, embodying County Governor Lee Byeongno's philosophy that regional development can be led only by approaching numerous local issues in a bipartisan manner, regardless of party affiliation.

To this end, the Seoul office director was hired from Daegu and is a former policy secretary of the People Power Party, increasing connections with the ruling party.

The newly appointed Seoul office director, Kim Dongryul, born in Daegu, previously served as a policy secretary and aide to members of the National Assembly from the Liberty Korea Party, the predecessor of the People Power Party, and the current People Power Party. He has been active in the Health and Welfare Committee, Education Committee, Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee, Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, and the Special Budget and Accounts Committee.

Based on this diverse experience, Director Kim plays a bridging role across party lines, greatly contributing to securing government budgets for Damyang-gun and promptly grasping policy trends.

In particular, on the 15th, during Governor Lee Byeongno’s visit to the National Assembly, he arranged meetings with ruling party lawmakers, leading to the securing of national funds and regional harmony.

Governor Lee met with lawmakers from both ruling and opposition parties to propose 57.4 billion KRW worth of pending projects, including ▲ Expansion of Local Road No. 60 from Goseo to Changpyeong ▲ Improvement of hazardous roads on Local Road No. 60 in Mujeong ▲ Sewage pipeline maintenance projects in Goseo, Daedeok, and Changpyeong (Phase 1) ▲ Sewage pipeline maintenance project in Mujeong treatment district ▲ Customized integrated river projects ▲ Daejeon-myeon urban regeneration project ▲ Comprehensive pedestrian environment maintenance project in Guksu Street living zone, Damyang-eup ▲ The 4th statutory cultural city creation project.

Governor Lee Byeongno said, “For regional development, we need to communicate with a more flexible mindset,” and added, “The Seoul office is expected to play a significant role in various fields, including the Hometown Love Donation Program.”
