Ulsan City Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for Youth Hope Housing with Hope Shopping Mall... Expected to Support Housing Stability and Startups for Young Generation Perspective view of Ulsan City Youth Hope Housing.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Ulsan City will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the ‘Youth Hope Housing Embracing Hope Shopping Mall’ at 3 p.m. on the 28th in Seongan-dong, Jung-gu.

About 150 people will attend the event, including Mayor Kim Du-gyeom, Vice Chairman of the City Council Lee Seong-ryong, Jung-gu District Mayor Kim Young-gil, city youth policy coordination committee members, and Jung-gu youth policy council members.

The ‘Youth Hope Housing Embracing Hope Shopping Mall’ is the first step of the ‘Youth Hope Housing Construction Project for Building a City Where Imagination Becomes Reality and Youth Want to Stay,’ a campaign pledge of the 8th elected administration.

This Youth Hope Housing consists of 36 hope housing units and 2 startup support shopping malls, with a total floor area of 1,800㎡ across one basement floor and four above-ground floors. It will also include shared living rooms where young people can freely communicate and share information.

Mayor Kim Du-gyeom emphasized, “The goal of this project is to reduce the housing burden, which is the biggest concern for the younger generation,” adding, “To solve the urgent and unavoidable issue of the declining youth population leaving Ulsan, we will comprehensively implement tailored youth policies such as housing stability and good job creation.”

Ulsan City plans to build 200 Youth Hope Housing units by 2026 across the city, including Sinjeong-dong in Nam-gu and Taehwa-dong in Jung-gu, investing about 41 billion KRW to ensure economically vulnerable youth can focus on their studies and livelihoods without worrying about housing.
