Burger King Launches Three 'Black Onion' Varieties... Cho Joo-jae Selected as Advertising Model

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Burger King announced on the 28th that it will launch three new products featuring ‘Black Onion’.


Also known as caramelized rising onion, Black Onion is slowly cooked over low heat for a long time, resulting in a rich flavor that is mainly used in gourmet dishes. Burger King’s ‘Black Onion Whopper’ features Black Onion cooked for 200 minutes with Italian balsamic vinegar to deliver deep flavor, paired with a 100% pure beef patty grilled over an open flame to provide a smoky taste along with a softer texture and umami.


The new products use the ‘Black Whopper Bun,’ which perfectly matches both the name and color of Black Onion, and has a longer fermentation time than regular buns, offering a softer and chewier texture.


The new lineup includes three items: the Black Onion Whopper with a beef flame-grilled patty, the ‘Black OnionX’ with a soft brioche bun and a thicker steak patty, and the ‘Black Onion Chicken Burger’ with a crispy chicken patty.


Meanwhile, Burger King has selected model Joo Woojae, who has many fans due to his vibrant personality, as the face of this new product line.
