[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] On the 26th, Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, announced on the 28th that it conducted a 'Child Abuse Prevention Campaign' targeting local residents and tourists at the Seonunsan Ecological Forest Entrance Plaza.
The campaign, held jointly with the Gochang Police Station, Gochang Office of Education, and Jeonbuk Child Protection Agency, involved street promotions from the plaza to the Seonunsa Temple ticket office, distributing promotional materials containing information on the concept of child abuse, the abolition of disciplinary rights under civil law, and how to report child abuse.
At the promotional booth, activities such as proper communication methods with children and signing petitions to create a happy child-rearing environment were conducted.
Residents who participated in the signing recognized that children's rights are as important as adult rights, empathized with methods to prevent child abuse and advocate for children's rights, and pledged to fulfill the role of child protectors.
Lee Gil-su, Director of Talent Development in the county, said, "Exposing children to parental quarrels can also be considered child abuse," and added, "This campaign was conducted to raise sensitivity to child abuse and improve social awareness. We will actively strive to make Gochang a place where children are respected and grow up safely."
Meanwhile, the county conducted nine sessions of outreach child abuse prevention education this year, covering the definition, types, and reporting methods of child abuse.
Additionally, through monthly meetings with related organizations, they share child abuse cases and discuss prevention measures, working to create an environment where children can grow up happily and safely.
