[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Pyeonghwa] Construction machinery company Volvo Group Korea announced on the 28th that it held a dedication ceremony for the Volvo New Home Project at Eunhye House, a child protection facility group home in Changwon, Gyeongnam, and announced the project's achievements. The Volvo New Home Project is a child housing environment improvement initiative that Volvo Group Korea has been conducting with Habitat for Humanity Korea for 22 years.
This year's project is characterized by expanding the scope of support in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Children's Day. Based on Volvo Construction Equipment's corporate vision of 'Building Tomorrow,' the goal was to support the dreams and futures of children and youth in vulnerable housing environments. Child protection center group homes and single-parent families in the community that require environmental improvement were selected to improve their housing conditions and provide experiences of spatial transformation.
To this end, Volvo Group Korea signed a tripartite agreement this year with Habitat for Humanity Korea and Saesalm. Habitat for Humanity Korea comprehensively supported functional improvements in the housing environment, including insulation, windows, and bathroom upgrades, from the space renovation stage. Lee Ji-young, CEO of Saesalm and a space creator, donated her talent for interior space consulting, rearranging and organizing all furniture within the group home. Volvo Group Korea, overseeing the entire project, also donated washing machines and dryers to the child protection facility group home.
Andrew Knight, CEO of Volvo Group Korea, said, “We will continue to seek opportunities to collaborate with community members to practice our corporate vision of building a better tomorrow.”
