Busan Fireworks Festival Embellishes This Year's Winter Night Sky... Enhanced Viewing and Safety Equipment for Visitors, Held on December 17

Busan Fireworks Festival Embellishes This Year's Winter Night Sky... Enhanced Viewing and Safety Equipment for Visitors, Held on December 17 Busan Fireworks Festival scene.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Busan Fireworks Festival, postponed due to the Itaewon incident, will light up Busan's winter night sky in December. It will be held as a normal event for the first time in three years since it was suspended due to COVID-19.

Busan City announced that the 17th Busan Fireworks Festival will be held on December 17 at Gwangalli Beach, Dongbaek Island, and in front of Igidae.

The festival will be held under the theme of an emotional harmony singing Busan with fireworks, "Harmony of Busan." This year's Busan Fireworks Festival was planned to provide comfort and vitality to citizens exhausted by COVID-19. It will also contribute to spreading promotional enthusiasm for the bid to host the 2030 Busan World Expo.

The festival was originally scheduled for November 5 but was indefinitely postponed due to the national mourning period declared after the Itaewon incident on October 29.

Busan City has decided to prioritize the safety of spectators and support the festival accordingly.

The number of safety personnel initially planned to be deployed will be increased by more than 50% and stationed on-site to ensure a zero-accident festival from viewing to returning home.

Additionally, a total volume control system will be implemented at 16 major access points to Gwangalli Beach, with stepwise crowd control measures in case of excessive crowding. While spectators were originally allowed to walk freely on the event access routes, in case of congestion, crowds will be dispersed by rerouting.

LED vehicles equipped with mobile broadcasting systems will be placed at four key locations, and additional safety fences will be installed to encourage the dispersion of spectators.

With the event postponed from November to December, the fireworks show start time will be moved one hour earlier than originally planned to ensure smooth progress. The time, previously from 8:00 PM to 9:05 PM, will be changed to 7:00 PM to 8:05 PM, considering the cold weather.

Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, said, "As the Busan Fireworks Festival, which we have waited for three years, resumes in December, we will do our utmost to ensure that all spectators can safely enjoy the festival." He added, "We will promote Busan's mature city image worldwide to greatly help create a boom for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid."
