[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] KOTRA announced that it will hold a workshop on 'Manned-Unmanned Complex Systems' on the 28th, with a total of 153 participants including foreign military attach?s from 21 countries stationed in Korea, and representatives from domestic companies such as Hanwha Systems and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI).

The 'Defense Export Promotion Workshop' hosted by KOTRA on that day at Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, will be attended by 27 foreign military attach?s in Korea, 90 businesspeople, and 36 personnel from military-related organizations, totaling 153 participants.

This year's theme, manned-unmanned complex systems, is a strategic weapon system that has sparked development competition among major defense countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom. It is a system encompassing manned platforms directly controlled by humans and unmanned platforms such as drones and robots.

KOTRA explained that the workshop was organized to assist Korean companies planning to expand overseas and integrate into the global defense value chain (GVC).

Specifically, the workshop will present the current status of the development of manned-unmanned complex systems by the Korean military and future development directions. It will introduce the latest technologies from companies developing manned-unmanned complex systems such as Hanwha Systems, Korea Aerospace, Hancom Inspace, and Boeing Korea.

A representative from KOTRA’s Defense Materials Trade Support Center, which hosted the workshop, said, "The significance of holding this workshop lies in creating an international defense cooperation discussion platform where the public, private, and military sectors can jointly expand the enthusiasm for K-defense centered on system weapons into advanced defense technology fields such as robotics and artificial intelligence (AI)." He added, "We will continue to actively support the sustainable growth of Korea’s defense industry."
