[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Samsung Electro-Mechanics has been recognized as the 'Best Company' locally in the Philippines 25 years after entering the market. It received the 'Best Company Award' given by the Philippine government.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced on the 27th that it received the Philippine 'Best Company Award' this year. This award is given annually by the Philippine Department of Industry to the most outstanding company among those listed in the 'Hall of Fame' across all sectors including export, employment, social contribution, and environment. It is the most prestigious award that companies registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) can receive.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics has received the top award three times in each category and has been inducted into the 'Hall of Fame.' Since the award was first given in 2012, only five companies including Samsung Electro-Mechanics have received it.
Park Suncheol, Executive Director and Head of Samsung Electro-Mechanics Philippines, said, "It is an honor to be recognized as the best company in all areas including export, employment, social contribution, and environment," adding, "We will continue to actively carry out social welfare programs for employees and local communities, and strive for the preservation of a healthy environment and sustainable development."

Samsung Electro-Mechanics Philippines has obtained the ISO14001 environmental certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It was recognized as an excellent company for systematic environmental improvement efforts such as energy saving, reduction in chemical usage, and compliance with water and air pollution prevention standards. It was also evaluated for its continuous CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities such as tree planting and coastal cleanup to create an eco-friendly environment and conserve natural resources.
The company has also set an example for other companies by striving to enhance social value. It conducts activities such as discovering talented individuals from low-income groups, providing tutoring, and awarding scholarships, and hires outstanding talent at its Philippine branch.
Meanwhile, in August, Samsung Electro-Mechanics President Jang Deokhyun requested support for the bid to host the '2030 Busan World Expo' from Alfredo Pascual, the Philippine Secretary of Industry, in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. He provided detailed explanations about the major activities of Samsung Electro-Mechanics Philippines, examples of innovative technologies, and contributions to the Philippine economic growth.
The Philippine branch was established in 1997. Since 2000, it has been producing passive components such as MLCC (Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitors), inductors, and chip resistors, which are Samsung Electro-Mechanics' core products. Last year, it recorded sales of $1.153 billion (approximately 1.55 trillion KRW). Samsung Electro-Mechanics is building its Philippine branch as a future key production base to respond to demand for IT and automotive parts.
