[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The Gwangjin District Council's research group, the 'Gwangjin District Council Culture and Welfare Research Group (Representative Kim Sang-hee),' held a meeting on the 24th with the cultural arts volunteer group Merry, located in Mapo District.
The meeting was attended by Representative Kim Sang-hee and Councilor Shin Jin-ho.
The Gwangjin District Council Culture and Welfare Research Group visited the Merry volunteer group to promote everyday arts that allow even non-majors to easily access and enjoy cultural arts.
The cultural arts volunteer group Merry is an everyday arts ESG platform for all generations, spanning from teenagers to people in their 70s across Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gangwon, and Daejeon regions, engaging in social contribution in the field of music arts.
At the meeting, the topic was improving accessibility to cultural arts. Specifically, discussions were held on operating orchestras and choirs for youth and seniors, supporting practice and performance spaces by local governments, and running cultural arts education programs.
Representative Kim Sang-hee and Councilor Shin Jin-ho stated, “We will lower the high barriers to art and find ways for everyone to easily enjoy art together. We will do our best to collaborate with everyday arts groups including the Merry volunteer group to enhance cultural welfare in Gwangjin District.”
