"Republicans 222 vs Democrats 213" US Midterm House Vote Counting Virtually Complete

[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] The vote counting for the November 8 midterm elections, which reshaped the power of the U.S. Congress, has virtually been completed. While the Democratic Party's better-than-expected performance was confirmed, the seat difference between the two parties in the House of Representatives, where the Republican Party regained the majority, remained under 10 seats.

According to tallies from the Washington Post (WP) and the Associated Press (AP) on the 25th (local time), vote counting is still ongoing in some areas, but the winners in 433 districts of the House of Representatives, excluding two districts in California and Colorado, have been confirmed. The remaining two districts have also completed 99% of the vote count, with the Republican Party holding the lead.

The seats already secured by the Republican Party have surpassed the 218 seats required for a majority in the House last week. If the current trend in vote counting is finalized, the Republican Party will hold 222 seats, and the Democratic Party will hold 213 seats in the House. In this case, the seat difference is 9, which falls far short of the Republican Party's initial expectations.

The districts with pending final decisions are California's 13th district and Colorado's 3rd district. In California's 13th district, with 99% of the votes counted, Republican candidate John Duarte is narrowly leading Democratic candidate Adam Gray by about 600 votes. In Colorado's 3rd district, also with 99% of the votes counted, Republican Representative Lauren Boebert is leading Democratic challenger Adam Frisch by about 550 votes, and Frisch has conceded defeat.

The Senate vote count has been finalized except for Georgia, which has a runoff election next month. The Democratic Party has secured 50 out of 100 seats. Considering Vice President Kamala Harris's casting vote, the Democrats have secured a majority regardless of the outcome in Georgia.
