Gyeonggi Province held the 'Gyeonggi Agricultural and Food Export Tower Award' ceremony on the 25th at Dasan Hall, Gyeonggi Human Resources Development Institute in Suwon, with about 100 attendees including Yeom Tae-young, Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs, and members of the Gyeonggi Agricultural and Fishery Products Export Council.
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province held the 'Gyeonggi Agricultural Food Export Tower Award' ceremony on the 25th at Dasan Hall of the Gyeonggi Human Resources Development Institute in Suwon, attended by about 100 people including Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs Yeom Tae-young and members of the Gyeonggi Agricultural and Marine Products Export Council.
At the biennial award ceremony, 14 farms and export companies that struggled amid difficult export conditions such as COVID-19 and the Ukraine crisis were honored.
The Export Tower Award was selected by the Gyeonggi Agricultural and Marine Products Export Council for agricultural food farms and producer groups with export performance of agricultural, marine, and livestock products and food exceeding $100,000, and export companies exceeding $1 million, from August 1 last year to July 31 this year.
Divided into production farms, producer groups, and export companies, in the production farm category, Baekya Farm and Chaein Mushroom received export towers for $100,000 and $500,000 respectively. As producer groups, Namyang Agricultural Products Co., Ltd., Hwaseong City Grape Export Council, Mir, Janghowon Nonghyup, Gyeonggi Eastern Horticultural Nonghyup, Natureteo Co., Ltd., Gimpo-Paju Ginseng Nonghyup, and Anseong Horticultural Nonghyup received awards ranging from $200,000 to $2 million.
As for export companies, Renewal Life Co., Ltd., Wooil Farm Co., Ltd., Maniker F&N Co., Ltd., and The Giban Co., Ltd. each received export towers ranging from $1 million to a maximum of $4 million.
The awarded companies were presented with agricultural food export towers corresponding to their export performance, and they will be given priority selection and support in the 2023 Gyeonggi export support projects, including participation in the Gyeonggi Agricultural Food Overseas Promotion Exhibition and the International Food Expo.
Deputy Governor Yeom Tae-young said, "The increase in export performance despite the adverse conditions of COVID-19 last year is the result of your sweat and hard work," adding, "Gyeonggi Province is conducting overseas market development projects, agricultural food competitiveness enhancement projects, and Gyeonggi ginseng premium branding projects to promote agricultural food exports. We will continue to be a pillar of support for farmers so that they can live with pride."
Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province's agricultural food export performance in 2021 reached a record high of $1.58 billion, maintaining its position as the nation's top exporter.
