Criticism of the Speech at the 'Hanmi Combined Forces Command Relocation Ceremony'
Real-Name Criticism Expected to Continue for the Time Being
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hee-jun] North Korea once again unleashed harsh remarks mentioning President Yoon Suk-yeol by name. Following a statement by Kim Yo-jong, Deputy Director of the Workers' Party, North Korea criticized President Yoon's congratulatory speech commemorating the relocation of the ROK-US Combined Forces Command, calling it "the gutless antics of top-class lackeys tamed as America's lapdogs."
On the 25th, North Korea's external propaganda outlet, Tongil-ui Meori, in a commentary titled "Top-class Lackeys," stated, "This is a clear example showing the extent of Yoon Suk-yeol's pro-American servile consciousness," and argued, "The ROK-US 'alliance relationship' has become even more evidently a 'subordinate vertical relationship' through this occasion."
This was aimed at President Yoon's congratulatory speech sent on the 15th at the ceremony marking the relocation of the ROK-US Combined Forces Command. At that time, President Yoon said, "The ROK-US Combined Forces Command is the heart of the ROK-US alliance and the core of the combined defense system. For the past 44 years, it has successfully carried out the defense mission of the Republic of Korea against North Korea's invasion and provocation threats," and urged, "I ask all service members to do their best to ensure that the Combined Forces Command, the heart of the ROK-US alliance, can live and breathe more vibrantly as one team centered on Commander General Laura J. Richardson."
The title of the commentary containing such criticism is "Top-class Lackeys," where "lackey" means "a person who acts as a puppet under someone else's orders." North Korea has traditionally used the term "top-class pro-American lackeys" when criticizing the South Korean government or its head of state.
The outlet also mocked, "The disgraceful behavior of Yoon Suk-yeol's treacherous faction, fawning over the American master like a grandfather, is the gutless antics of top-class lackeys tamed as America's lapdogs," and added, "Despite that, they are boasting about 'firm responses' and 'retaliation,' which is truly laughable."
North Korea has issued three statements this week alone, engaging in a campaign of criticism. Deputy Director Kim Yo-jong directly targeted the UN Security Council for criticizing North Korea's intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launches, and the day before, she crossed the line by calling President Yoon a "foolish idiot," effectively inciting anti-government struggle.
Kim Yo-jong's "harsh remarks" directly targeting President Yoon are expected to influence North Korean propaganda media's reports on South Korea for the time being.
