[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] A child showing symptoms of acute enteritis in a remote island village was urgently transported to the mainland by the Coast Guard.
According to the Mokpo Coast Guard Station on the 25th, at around 12:29 a.m., a report was received requesting transport of a boy, A (7 years old, male), from Byeongpungdo, Sinan County, who was suspected of having acute enteritis due to high fever and severe abdominal pain, based on the opinion of the health center chief.
The Coast Guard dispatched a coastal rescue boat from the local police substation, boarded A and his guardian at the scene, and transported them to Songdo Port in Jido-eup, handing them over to the 119 emergency medical team at around 1:05 a.m. that day.
After arriving on the mainland, A was transferred with his guardian to a large hospital in Mokpo, where he received emergency treatment and is currently undergoing care.
A Mokpo Coast Guard official stated, “We maintained the patient’s body temperature using a blanket and monitored his health condition in real time during transport,” and added, “In case of emergencies at sea or on islands, please promptly report to the Coast Guard to secure the golden time.”
