"Valuable Draw Against Uruguay"... 2 Million People Flock to Naver Support Talk

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Over 2 million users gathered on Naver to cheer for Korea's first match against Uruguay in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

According to Naver on the 25th, the 'Live Cheer Talk' recorded a peak concurrent user count of 2,000,291 the previous day, with a cumulative viewership reaching approximately 8.95 million. As of 7:30 AM that day, 292,501 'Cheer Talks' were recorded.

Naver is providing online broadcasting rights for the Qatar World Cup from the 21st of last month until the 19th of next month, operating community services and various special feature pages.

Live Cheer Talk is a community service feature that allows real-time cheering while watching live broadcasts. It has been in service since 2008 and, following the Tokyo Olympics and Beijing Winter Olympics, Naver acquired the World Cup broadcasting rights for the first time in 8 years to live broadcast the Qatar World Cup.

The next-generation community service 'Open Talk,' which debuted last September, has also established itself as a new way to enjoy the World Cup. Open Talk is a service where reporters covering the event on-site in Qatar share updates and communicate with fans.

As of 7:30 AM that day, 2,288 Open Talks had been created, with 1,067 belonging to the soccer and international soccer categories. During the previous match against Uruguay, in addition to the three official Open Talks (an official cheering room with no participant limit, a star influencer iStarTV room, and a Qatar on-site reporter group room), fans with shared interests such as Son Heung-min, Kim Min-jae fan rooms, and K League fan gatherings cheered together.

Naver is also conducting a participatory sports event called 'Match Prediction.' Over 330,000 people participated in the Argentina-Saudi Arabia match prediction, with 653 survivors remaining, while only 1 out of 53 survived in the Germany-Japan match.

The World Cup match prediction event will be held over a total of 7 rounds, and those who successfully predict all matches will receive 2 million won in Naver Pay points.
