[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, conducted a ‘Proactive Hanwoo Supply and Demand Control and Hanwoo K-Quarantine’ campaign on the 23rd at the Sancheong Livestock Market area.
According to the county, the number of Hanwoo cattle being raised and slaughtered, as well as demand, continues to increase.
In particular, there is concern about a significant price drop due to serious overbreeding in the mid to long term, making it necessary to refrain from new stock introduction and to promote early shipment.
Accordingly, Sancheong-gun carried out this campaign to create a proactive supply and demand control atmosphere in response to the continuous increase in Hanwoo cattle numbers and to encourage active participation of Hanwoo farmers in Hanwoo K-Quarantine.
During the campaign, participation in the fattening support project for Hanwoo farmers was actively encouraged, and a resolution was made to join the realization of K-Quarantine by thoroughly blocking and preventing livestock infectious diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease and brucellosis.
A county official stated, “We will strive to ensure that the Hanwoo industry can be stably maintained through projects such as fattening of pregnant and non-pregnant cows, adjustment of calf stocking volumes, and prevention and blocking of livestock infectious diseases.”
