[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jung-wan] Tottenham Hotspur commemorative coins featuring the image of South Korea's national football team captain Son Heung-min are being introduced domestically for the first time.
On the 24th, Poongsan Hwadongyanghaeng, responsible for domestic distribution, announced, "The official Tottenham commemorative coins will be publicly available through Hana Bank and others from today until the 9th of next month, in line with the 2022 Qatar World Cup." The coins feature key Tottenham players such as Son Heung-min, Harry Kane, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, and Hugo Lloris.
Manufactured by the UK Commonwealth Mint, this commemorative coin set consists of one proof-grade 1-ounce (oz) gold coin (maximum issuance of 100 pieces) and one 1oz silver coin (maximum issuance of 1,000 pieces).
The gold coin package includes a photo frame of the best 11 players, including Son Heung-min. The silver coin package comes with frames featuring the jersey numbers and autographs of Son Heung-min, Harry Kane, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, and Hugo Lloris, allowing buyers to choose the image of their preferred player. The price for the package including the gold coin is set at 4,510,000 KRW, while the silver coin packages are priced at 198,000 KRW each.
Notably, both the gold and silver coins depict Son Heung-min's signature 'Chalkak Ceremony' pose. Kane, Lloris, and Højbjerg also feature distinctive poses. The coins are engraved with Tottenham Hotspur's slogan 'To Dare is To Do' alongside the symbolic young cockerel logo, representing a spirited spur.
