[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Construction Headquarters will conduct on-site consultations with private sector experts in various fields twice, on the 25th and 29th of this month, to ensure winter safety management at the construction site of Gyeonggi Convergence Town in Gwanggyo New Town, Yeongtong, Suwon.
This consultation aims to prepare for safety accidents that may occur during winter. It will focus on inspecting safety management at the construction site, including the collapse of temporary structures due to heavy snow and strong winds, ground cracks caused by freezing and expansion, and suffocation and poisoning from concrete curing fuels.
Private experts in architecture, civil engineering, soil, and construction safety will participate in the consultation.
The Construction Headquarters continuously addresses risk factors through self-inspections by resident institutions and joint inspections with the private sector, but with the arrival of winter, it plans to review key management items once more to prevent safety accidents.
Minor risk factors identified through the consultation will be immediately corrected, and issues requiring ongoing management will be thoroughly handled through follow-up measures.
Located at 186 Iui-dong, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon City, Gyeonggi Convergence Town houses institutions such as the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation, Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation, and the Bank of Korea, each conducting their own construction work. Therefore, comprehensive safety management is necessary for construction workers and residents visiting the Gyeonggi Provincial Government and Gyeonggi Provincial Council.
Park Jong-geun, head of the Gyeonggi Convergence Town Promotion Team, emphasized, "Even after the Gyeonggi Provincial Government and Gyeonggi Provincial Council move in, construction of buildings and infrastructure for each resident institution will continue until 2024. We will do our best to ensure the safety of users and workers until all construction is completed."
Meanwhile, ongoing construction projects at Gyeonggi Convergence Town include ▲Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (scheduled for completion in April 2023) ▲Bank of Korea Gyeonggi Headquarters (scheduled for completion in April 2023) ▲Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (scheduled for completion in December 2023) ▲Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation (scheduled for completion in June 2024) ▲Gyeonggi Library and Plaza & Pedestrian Mall (scheduled for completion in December 2024).
