[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gui-yeol] On the 23rd, Dream Start in Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk, conducted ‘Parent Education and Nutrition Education’ for 30 case-managed children and 30 parents at the county comprehensive welfare center.
The parent education, in collaboration with the Yeongyang County Youth Counseling Welfare Center, was held under the theme ‘Wise Digital Life,’ providing time to prevent children’s overdependence on games, YouTube, and internet use in the digital age, and to learn empathy and communication methods between parents and children. Afterwards, families created their own companion plants by planting air-purifying plants.
The nutrition education prioritized lower-grade children, who are in the stage of forming eating habits, and provided education on the five major nutrients to improve children’s eating habits. After learning hygiene education and tool usage, the children prepared ingredients themselves and participated in the ‘Nutrition COOK Growing Up’ program by making square kimbap.
After the cooking activity, the children happily participated, looking forward to eating the kimbap they made together with their parents.
County Governor Oh Do-chang said, “Yeongyang-gun Dream Start will continuously promote various programs that satisfy both parents and children, and I ask parents and children to take an interest in the programs and actively participate.”
