Jeon Nam Province Councilor Jang Eun-young Leads Proposal for 'Support Ordinance for North Korean Defector Students' Jang Eun-young, Jeonnam Provincial Assembly Member

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-gyeong] Jang Eun-young, a member of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly (Democratic Party of Korea, proportional representation), successfully passed the representative bill, the "Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Ordinance on Support for Education of North Korean Defector Students," through the Education Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly on the 23rd.


This ordinance stipulates matters related to the support of education for North Korean defector students, aiming to guarantee their right to learn and improve their social adaptability.


The contents provide support for necessary school life expenses such as school uniform fees and experiential activity fees for North Korean defector students, and allow educational support institutions to cover all or part of the costs required to carry out educational projects for these students.


In particular, to support education for North Korean defector students, customized academic information such as career counseling programs, broadcasting and communication high schools, lifelong education facilities, educational support institutions, qualification exams, and transfer admissions are organized and provided to the students.


Assembly member Jang Eun-young said, "Through meetings with North Korean defector families, I learned that there are many difficulties in financial aspects and welfare," and added, "We will continue to support educational settlement for North Korean defector families in cooperation with social organizations."


This ordinance, having passed the standing committee, is scheduled to be approved at the plenary session of the 2nd regular meeting of the 367th Jeonnam Provincial Assembly on the 9th of next month.
