[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Smilegate Hope Studio (hereinafter Hope Studio) and mobile game developer Awesome Peace announced on the 23rd that they have raised donations for a support project for children with borderline intelligence in blind spots.
Hope Studio opened a donation site to allow members of both companies and users to participate. Children with borderline intelligence refer to those with an intelligence quotient (IQ) between 71 and 84. It is estimated that there are about 800,000 such children in Korea.
On the 22nd, the two companies delivered the donations to the Seoul Metropolitan Child Community Living Home Support Center. Attendees at the donation ceremony included Awesome Peace CEO Kim Jae-woo, Seoul Metropolitan Child Community Living Home Support Center Director Park Ja-young, Amogreentech Rose Home Facility Director Yoo Myung-han, and Hope Studio Team Leader Park Jae-hee.
This project focuses on supporting children with borderline intelligence in blind spots to grow into healthy members of society. The two companies formed a partnership with the Seoul Metropolitan Child Community Living Home Support Center and are carrying out the project targeting seven group homes within Seoul.
The donated funds will be used for various projects supporting children with borderline intelligence in blind spots to grow into healthy members of society. Personalized healing programs will include community programs that help children with borderline intelligence socialize with general children, as well as educational infrastructure support projects such as IT device provision.
So far, Hope Studio and Awesome Peace have shared a commitment to solving community issues through their partnership, including supporting the independence of out-of-home youth and creating creative environments for vulnerable groups.
Meanwhile, Hope Studio has been conducting support projects for children and adolescents with borderline intelligence in blind spots since 2018. In particular, it has operated the integrated support platform "Smile House," providing psychological counseling and treatment programs. Smile House No. 3 (Ansan) was approved as Korea's first group home specialized for children with borderline intelligence, and Smile Houses No. 5 to 7 (Seongnam) operate as treatment group homes where children with borderline intelligence can receive outpatient treatment.
Kim Jae-woo, CEO of Awesome Peace, said, "Through Hope Studio, we became aware of the issues in blind spots and feel rewarded to participate in solving social problems. It is especially meaningful that the donations raised through the empathy and participation of our members were delivered together."
Kwon Yeon-ju, Director of Smilegate Hope Studio, said, "We sincerely thank Awesome Peace and its members who actively donated to help children with borderline intelligence in blind spots receive treatment and grow into healthy members of society. Going forward, Hope Studio will continue to establish itself as a platform that plays a central role in solving social problems by collaborating with various local governments, companies, and communities."
