Discount Sale on Fresh Food and Household Items
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Emart announced on the 23rd that it will hold discount events including 1+1 promotions on health-boosting fresh foods, processed goods, and daily necessities starting from the 24th to celebrate its 29th anniversary.
During this event, premium assorted bluefin tuna sashimi will be sold at 29,800 KRW per pack until the 30th. Emart began pre-planning six months ago and secured about 10 tons of bluefin tuna. This allowed them to offer the product at approximately 40% lower prices compared to specialized tuna restaurants.
Domestic 6-year-old freshly washed ginseng will be sold at a 20% discount when Shinsegae Points are accumulated. The ginseng is specially cleaned for easy consumption, which is notable since unwashed ginseng of the same quality is typically sold at around 40,000 to 50,000 KRW in the market. Considering the washing process, this price is about 30-40% cheaper.
Amazing Dakgangjeong (sweet crispy fried chicken), Amazing Yubu Sushi, and Amazing Flatfish and Salmon Sushi will be offered at a 20% discount with Shinsegae Points accumulation, while fried wings and drumsticks will be sold at a 30% discount with Shinsegae Points accumulation.
SSG.com is holding the Obanjang Week event until the 27th, where customers vote to select grocery items that will be offered daily in sets of nine at up to half price. Gmarket is running a discount event at the Smile Fresh section, specializing in fresh groceries, until the 30th.
An Emart official said, “We have prepared a large-scale event to give back to customers who have supported us for the past 29 years,” adding, “We will continue to strive to ease grocery prices in a way that customers can truly feel, in line with the essence of the large-scale retail business.”
