[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] Daewon Pharmaceutical announced on the 22nd that it held the delivery ceremony for the ‘2022 17th Love Kimchi Sharing’ event at Daewon Pharmaceutical headquarters in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, together with the Korean Red Cross and Seongdong District Office.
Started in 2006, Daewon Pharmaceutical’s Love Kimchi Sharing event is a social contribution activity where employees personally prepare and deliver kimchi to vulnerable neighbors such as elderly living alone and child-headed households who face difficulties during winter. However, due to the impact of COVID-19, since 2020 the event has been replaced by delivering finished products without holding the kimchi-making event.
The delivery ceremony was attended by Daewon Pharmaceutical President Tae-hong Choi, Seongdong District Office Administrative Management Director Young-hee Ko, and Korean Red Cross Seoul Metropolitan Branch Central Volunteer Center Director Hyun-sook Lee.
The total 6,650 kg of kimchi donated by Daewon Pharmaceutical will be delivered to a total of 421 households, including Hope Windmill households within the district, households receiving side dish support for children and adolescents, households with disabled persons, and other vulnerable households.
President Tae-hong Choi said, “We hold the Love Kimchi Sharing event every year to contribute in some small way to helping neighbors in difficult circumstances spend a warm winter,” and added, “I hope COVID-19 will end soon so that employees can participate together in the event again.”
Administrative Management Director Young-hee Ko said, “I express respect and gratitude to Daewon Pharmaceutical and the Korean Red Cross for practicing sharing and contributing to society for 17 years,” and added, “We will make sure to deliver the precious kimchi well to neighbors in Seongdong-gu.” Director Hyun-sook Lee also said, “I deeply thank Daewon Pharmaceutical and Seongdong District Office for steadily practicing neighborly love and sharing warmth every year.”
