Train operation suspension status starting from the 24th due to a strike by the Railway Workers' Union. Provided by Korea Railroad Corporation.
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 22nd that disruptions to the operation of some trains are inevitable as the National Railway Labor Union has announced a work stoppage starting at 9 a.m. on the 24th.
On the day of the work stoppage, KORAIL expects the suspension of 8 trains including the Mugunghwa trains on the Gyeongbu, Honam, and Janghang lines, Saemaeul train on the Janghang line, and the tourist train S-Train, with 10 trains expected to be suspended from the following day.
During the work stoppage period, KORAIL plans to operate an emergency transportation countermeasure headquarters to minimize inconvenience to passengers.
First, ticket refunds (cancellations) and change fees will be waived during the work stoppage, and for trains expected to experience long delays, operations will be suspended in advance. Individual text messages will be sent to customers who have booked these trains to inform them about the normal operation status of the trains.
Additionally, delays are expected on some metropolitan subway lines and Donghae Line electric trains during the work stoppage period. If a delay certificate is needed, it can be issued through the 'KORAIL Subway Talk' app, the website, or at stations under KORAIL jurisdiction.
Although KTX trains will continue to operate during the work stoppage, delays cannot be ruled out depending on the situation.
Therefore, examinees who need to use trains for weekend university early admission essay and interview exams are strongly advised to check train operation status and delays in advance through the mobile app ‘KORAIL Talk’ or the website.
If the train carrying an examinee is delayed, measures will be taken to secure alternative transportation or cooperate with the police to assist with transportation from the arrival station to the exam venue.
A KORAIL official said, “We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the railway union’s work stoppage during this difficult economic period for the nation,” and added, “KORAIL will prioritize safety during the work stoppage and take all possible measures to minimize inconvenience to train passengers.”
