[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hee-jun] The National Intelligence Service recently identified the daughter who accompanied Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of North Korea, during the intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) test launch as his "second daughter, Kim Ju-ae."
On the morning of the 22nd, Yoo Sang-beom, a member of the People Power Party, stated at the National Assembly Intelligence Committee plenary meeting, "The National Intelligence Service has confirmed that the daughter who accompanied (North Korea) during the ICBM launch is judged to be the second daughter, Kim Ju-ae."
Earlier, on the 18th, North Korea launched the new ICBM "Hwasong-17" under the leadership of General Secretary Kim, attracting attention as his daughter was seen accompanying him at the event.
Photos released by the Korean Central News Agency showed a young girl wearing a white padded jacket, black pants, and red shoes holding Kim Jong-un's hand tightly as they walked beside the missile or watched the launch scene. Another photo captured Kim Jong-un sitting at the command post, gesturing and giving orders to military officials, while his wife Ri Sol-ju stood beside him with hands clasped, watching attentively.
The Korean Central News Agency explained, "He personally came out with his beloved child and wife to directly oversee the entire test launch process," and Kim Ju-ae's existence was previously confirmed when former NBA star Dennis Rodman, who visited North Korea in 2013, stated, "I held their baby Ju-ae and also had a conversation with Mrs. Ri Sol-ju."
According to intelligence authorities, Kim Jong-un and Ri Sol-ju are believed to have children born in 2010, 2013, and 2017. The eldest is presumed to be a son, and the second child is estimated to be the daughter Kim Ju-ae revealed this time.
