Supporting the Expansion of Creators' Ecosystem and Mutual Growth
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jonghwa] Jelly Crew, the creator commerce platform of HandHug, announced on the 22nd that the cumulative settlement amount paid to collaborating creators has surpassed 6 billion KRW.
Jelly Crew settles and pays creators monthly based on the profits from products sold both online and offline, as well as affiliate sales generated by connecting creators and brands. This fair compensation system for Jelly Crew’s creations allows creators to secure stable income and focus on their creative activities.
The cumulative settlement amount, which began in August 2019, exceeded 1 billion KRW in 2019, 9 billion KRW in 2020, and 3 billion KRW last year, surpassing 6 billion KRW as of November this year. It is expected that the cumulative settlement amount will exceed 6.5 billion KRW by the end of this year.
Creators active on Jelly Crew can sell products through the online platform, 7 offline directly operated stores, and over 260 consignment channels. Popular creator brands receive support through a 'partnership system' that provides optimized in-house solutions unique to Jelly Crew, including product development, exclusive pop-up stores, and collaborations with franchise brands under separate contracts.
Among the approximately 400 creator teams active on Jelly Crew, the average cumulative settlement amount of the top 3 creators reaches 400 million KRW, and some creators have seen their settlement amounts increase up to 2.5 times compared to last year. HandHug also reported a sales increase of over 99% compared to the same period last year as of September.
Park Junhong, CEO of HandHug, the operator of Jelly Crew, stated, "We believe that fair compensation for creative works must be made," adding, "We will advance the ecosystem centered on Jelly Crew to become a platform that grows together with Jelly Crew collaborating creators."
Meanwhile, Jelly Crew started as a commerce platform where creators conducting creative activities based on SNS participate as sellers, providing various monetization solutions utilizing creators’ works.
