[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The first step toward the globalization of Korean sculpture began in Tokyo, Japan.

Crown Haitai Confectionery announced on the 22nd that it will hold the "2022 K-Sculture Korea-Japan Exchange Exhibition" at the Seiho Gallery in Ginza, Tokyo, Japan, from the 21st to the 26th.

This exchange exhibition is the first overseas local exhibition of the "K-Sculture Globalization Project," which aims to promote the excellence of Korean sculpture to the global market following the Han River Sculpture Exhibition, the world's largest outdoor sculpture exhibition. The K-Sculture Organizing Committee plans to promote local international sculpture exchange exhibitions by country, starting with Japan, followed by the United States, Italy, and others.

The Japan exchange exhibition features eight Korean sculptors, including Yeom Si-kwon and Lee Yun-bok, and eight Japanese sculptors, including Masanori Onoda. Sixteen representative works by mid-career sculptors representing Korea and Japan are exhibited, allowing visitors to appreciate the sculpture art of both countries in one place.

Meanwhile, the opening ceremony held locally in Japan on the 21st was attended by Yoon Young-dal, chairman of the K-Sculture Organizing Committee, Shuji Ito, CEO of Karubisa Japan, Korean and Japanese sculptors, and local art officials.

At the opening ceremony, Yoon Young-dal, chairman of the K-Sculture Organizing Committee (Chairman of Crown Haitai Confectionery), said, "We hope that K-Sculture will be at the center of Korean culture and art, which actively exchanges with people around the world," adding, "The first Korea-Japan sculpture exchange exhibition will be a valuable opportunity to achieve the development of the art markets and sculpture in both countries."
