Gyeonggi-do Successfully Establishes Public Response System for Child Abuse Gyeonggi Provincial Government Gwanggyo New Office Building

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi-do received an Excellence Award in the 'Establishment of Public Response System for Child Abuse' evaluation.

Gyeonggi-do announced on the 22nd that it won the Excellence Award among 17 metropolitan local governments nationwide in the '2022 Establishment of Public Response System for Child Abuse' evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

The evaluation of the establishment of a public response system for child abuse is conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare to assess the achievements of local governments in building a public response system for child abuse.

This year, the Ministry of Health and Welfare reviewed seven items across three areas, including the placement and support of dedicated child abuse officers, and awarded two metropolitan cities/provinces (Grand Prize and Excellence Award) and six basic local governments (cities/counties/districts) with outstanding performance.

Following the implementation of the public child abuse response system, the province has been operating the first metropolitan-level base Child Protection Agency nationwide since January.

As a result, it received high evaluations for various efforts such as strengthening the response system through cooperation with related organizations, expanding infrastructure and enhancing expertise for abused children, and actively promoting a pilot project to revitalize dedicated medical institutions.

Yoo So-jeong, head of the Child Care Division of the province, emphasized, "This award is the result of proactive and preemptive administration for the prevention of child abuse and protection of abused children," adding, "We will continue to do our best so that all children can live happily and safely."
