[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] On the 22nd, a large-scale rally will be held in downtown Seoul, raising concerns about traffic congestion.
According to the police, the Construction Workers' Union will hold a preliminary rally in the Sejong-daero area (from Sungnyemun to Taepyeong) in the morning to urge the enactment of the Special Act on Construction Safety. They plan to move to the Yeouidaero area (from Mapo Bridge to Seoul Bridge) in the afternoon to continue the large-scale rally. Approximately 40,000 union members of the Construction Workers' Union are expected to attend these rallies.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency plans to operate only two lanes from Taepyeong to Sungnyemun on Sejong-daero while the rally is in progress. During the afternoon on Yeouidaero, the main road opposite the rally site will be operated as a reversible lane towards Seoul Bridge, and the auxiliary road will be operated as a reversible lane towards downtown.
A Seoul police official urged, "Please use public transportation as much as possible, and even if you use a vehicle, please detour in the Yeouidong and Seo-ro directions on the Yeouidaero section." Detailed traffic information during the rally can be checked via the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's traffic information hotline, the Traffic Information Center website, or KakaoTalk (Seoul Police Traffic Information).
