BPA Hosts Marine ESG-Based Shipping, Trade, and Logistics Academic Exchange Exhibition Busan Port Authority held this year's New Maritime Era University Student Maritime ESG-based Shipping, Trade, and Logistics Academic Exchange Exhibition, with the participation of four universities in the Busan area.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan Port Authority (BPA) hosted the ‘2022 New Maritime Era Busan University Students’ Marine ESG-based Shipping, Trade, and Logistics Academic Exchange Exhibition’ on the 19th at the National Maritime Museum in Yeongdo, Busan, organized by Korea Maritime and Ocean University.


Students from Dong-A University, Pukyong National University, Pusan National University, and Korea Maritime and Ocean University participated in the event.


In the first part of the academic exchange exhibition, presentations on the development direction of Busan Port and the shipping and logistics industry were held in the BPA session and the Korea Ocean Business Corporation session.


In the second part, students from each university engaged in heated discussions on recent domestic and international issues such as food security, de-Chinafication, the shipping, trade, and logistics industries, and the economic effects of the North Port redevelopment.


Additionally, at the academic exchange exhibition, Kang Cheol-ho, chairman of the Busan City Council’s Special Committee for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid, gave a congratulatory speech.


Professor Shin Young-ran of Korea Maritime and Ocean University, Professor Seo Ji-min of Pusan National University, BPA Manager Eom Ki-yong, Busan New Port International Terminal Manager Jang Il-kwon, Director Kim Hyo-chan of Jogwang Yawton, and Manager Lee Sung-jae of CMA CGM also participated in the exchange exhibition, serving as mentors for presentations and discussions as well as judges.


Professor Shin Young-ran of Korea Maritime and Ocean University, who organized the academic exchange exhibition, said, “Eight teams participated in the first part presentations and eight teams in the second part discussions, and based on the judging results, awards will soon be presented under the names of the heads of BPA, Korea Ocean Business Corporation, and the chairman of the Busan City Council.”


BPA President Kang Jun-seok said, “I am amazed by the deep interest and broad knowledge of Busan area university students regarding Busan Port and Korea’s shipping, trade, and logistics sectors from an ESG perspective, and the future of our country’s industry looks bright.”


He added, “There is a need to activate academic exchange exhibitions where university students can showcase their accumulated knowledge and capabilities, and BPA will continue to participate in this.”
