[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that from the 21st to the 26th, it will hold the "2022 Radio and Broadcasting Industry Promotion Week" under the theme "Opening Korea's Digital Strategy through Radio Waves" at COEX in Samseong-dong and the Gwangju Science Museum.
Hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and jointly organized by the Korea Radio Promotion Association, Korea Radio Promotion Agency for Broadcasting and Communications, and the Korean Electromagnetic Wave Society, this 23rd Promotion Week aims to widely raise awareness of the importance of radio waves, a core resource of digital innovation, and to promote the sustainable development of the radio and broadcasting industry. Twenty diverse events, including exhibitions of excellent products and seminars on new radio and broadcasting technologies, will be held.
At the opening ceremony, key figures from industry and academia related to radio and broadcasting, including Minister Lee Jong-ho of the Ministry of Science and ICT, Vice Chairman Ahn Hyung-hwan of the Korea Communications Commission, Assemblyman Byun Jae-il of the Democratic Party, and Assemblyman Hong Seok-jun of the People Power Party, were invited. Awards were presented for the Radio and Broadcasting Technology Grand Prize, various contests, and plaques of merit were given to contributors to the promotion of the radio and broadcasting industry.
At the Radio and Broadcasting Excellent Products Exhibition Hall, operating for two days (21st?22nd), various products such as wireless charging, electric vehicles, Eum5G (5G specialized network), and satellites, which allow visitors to experience the latest technologies in the radio and broadcasting field, will be displayed. A ‘Visiting Radio Wave Civil Service’ booth providing consultation services to visitors and companies will also be operated.
For academic exchange, events such as the Wireless Power Transmission Conference, Spectrum Forum Seminar, Next Broadcasting Video Production Seminar, and Terahertz Expert Technical Workshop will be held concurrently.
At this Wireless Power Transmission Conference, the latest industry trends on new wireless power transmission technologies will be exchanged along with an introduction to "Radio Wave Regulation Innovation Plans to Revitalize the Digital Industry." The Spectrum Forum Seminar will introduce "Frequency Policy Directions for Implementing Digital Strategies" and "Research and Development Promotion Plans for Low Earth Orbit Satellite Communications," sharing global frequency and mobile communication technology trends and key achievements studied at the forum.
The Next Broadcasting Video Production Seminar will feature lectures on global broadcasting equipment exhibitions and production technologies, while the Terahertz Expert Technical Workshop will provide the latest information on applied technology development using the terahertz band and 6G technology research.
Various participatory programs such as the Visiting Radio Wave Classroom, Children's Radio Wave Exploration Team, and Radio Wave Exploration Camp, where the public can experience radio waves, will also be held in local regions.
Minister Lee Jong-ho of the Ministry of Science and ICT stated, "We will enhance vitality in the industrial field through bold regulatory innovations in the radio wave sector, such as wireless charging for electric vehicles, supply of Eum5G frequencies, and allowing smartphone UWB technology integration." He added, "We will also actively discover and promote regulatory improvement tasks for existing industries such as semiconductors and wireless stations to lay the foundation for Korea to advance as a digital leading country."
