[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk recently announced on the 21st that it conducted infectious disease prevention education for about 100 students enrolled at the Senior University affiliated with the Korean Senior Citizens Association Imsil-gun branch at the Imsil-gun Senior Welfare Center.
The county emphasized the risks of COVID-19 and influenza, which may reoccur in winter, and the importance of vaccination through infectious disease prevention education. It also provided guidelines for preventing tick-borne infectious diseases (such as Tsutsugamushi disease and SFTS), which are prevalent in autumn, helping residents prepare for seasonal infectious diseases.
Additionally, it informed seniors aged 65 and older that they are eligible for a free tuberculosis screening once a year, educating those with weakened immunity to visit the public health center for testing if they experience a cough lasting more than two weeks.
Through explanations of projects conducted by the public health center, such as the intestinal parasite eradication campaign, accurate information about infectious diseases was also provided.
Kim Daegon, director of the public health center, stated, “Infectious diseases are dangerous to everyone, but they can be especially fatal to seniors with weakened immune systems. We urge everyone to practice proper handwashing and other infectious disease prevention measures and to regularly check their health to maintain a healthy life.”
