[Asia Economy Culture Young Intern Reporter] Professor Seokyung Deok of Sungshin Women's University, who has been consistently conducting the 'Global Campaign to Eradicate the Rising Sun Flag,' is launching a global campaign to prevent Japan's Rising Sun Flag cheering ahead of the opening of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

On the 21st, Professor Seokyung Deok announced on Instagram, "Before the Qatar World Cup began, a large Rising Sun Flag cheering photo was displayed on the exterior wall of a famous shopping mall located in Doha, causing controversy over the Rising Sun Flag." The flag was later removed following protests from local Korean residents and netizens.

During the previous Russia World Cup, a photo of Japan's Rising Sun Flag cheering was posted on FIFA's official Instagram, sparking controversy. Professor Seokyung Deok immediately protested, leading to the photo being replaced. At that time, during the second match of Group H between Japan and Senegal, scenes of the Japanese cheering squad waving the Rising Sun Flag were broadcast worldwide on TV, causing further controversy. Regarding this, Professor Seokyung Deok stated, "If the Japanese cheering squad displays the Rising Sun Flag during this Qatar World Cup, I will immediately report it to FIFA."

He also plans to turn the Rising Sun Flag cheering into a global controversy if it appears during this World Cup, saying, "Through foreign press corps, I will inform the world that the Rising Sun Flag is a 'war crime flag' with the same meaning as Germany's swastika."

Furthermore, Professor Seokyung Deok actively urged domestic and international netizens to report any sightings of Rising Sun Flag cheering either at the Qatar World Cup venue or on TV broadcasts. Professor Seokyung Deok has achieved significant results in eradicating the Rising Sun Flag worldwide by persistently protesting and changing the Rising Sun Flag patterns used by global institutions and companies.
