[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 21st that it held a "Farm Party" at the Urban Agriculture Complex in Naenam-dong on the 19th.
The Farm Party is a compound word of "Farm," meaning a farm, and "Party," and is an event where participants share agricultural products they have produced themselves and food made from those products, while enjoying performances and hands-on experiences together.
The event received a great response as about 100 residents participated, sharing crops they grew themselves through the weekend farms at the Urban Agriculture Complex, and enjoying flute performances, flowerpot making, and urban garden experiences.
Since being selected for the "Urban Agriculture Space Creation Project" hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs in 2019, Dong-gu has established the Urban Agriculture Complex and operates it as a 100% eco-friendly complex through resident-participatory experience gardens, urban agriculture gardens, and weekend farms.
A resident who participated in the event said, "I am enjoying the joy of being an urban farmer by sharing the harvest from my first farming experience with neighbors," and added, "I hope various participation programs that can form a warm local community through sharing will continue."
Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, "It warms my heart to see people sharing the harvested crops with their neighbors and enjoying themselves," and added, "We will continue to discover and promote unique policies where local residents can communicate and heal together."
