Joint Attack Formation Flight over the East Sea
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] On the 18th, South Korea and the United States conducted a virtual bombing drill targeting North Korea's missile transporter erector launcher (TEL) in response to North Korea's intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) provocation. The South Korean and U.S. Air Forces also carried out a joint strike formation flight over the East Sea.
According to the military, South Korea's Air Force F-35A conducted a training exercise at the Pilsung firing range, striking a simulated TEL target with a precision-guided bomb (GBU-12). Regarding this, the military stated, "The advanced stealth-capable F-35A demonstrated its ability to approach targets covertly without being detected by the enemy and precisely strike the target."
South Korea and the U.S. also conducted a joint strike formation flight involving four South Korean Air Force F-35As and four U.S. Air Force F-16 fighters.
A military official said, "Our military is maintaining full readiness while closely coordinating between South Korea and the U.S. to monitor and track related developments in preparation for any further provocations by North Korea."
