[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun announced on the 18th that it will hold the "20th Gochang Dolmen Marathon" at the public stadium on the 20th.
This event, held for the first time in three years due to COVID-19, has received applications from about 2,300 participants and will be conducted in three categories: Health Course (5 km), Shortened Course (10 km), and Half Course (21.0975 km).
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Gochang Dolmen Marathon is a race that uses the dolmen site, designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, as the turning point.
The event is sponsored by Jeollabuk-do and Gochang-gun, and organized by the Gochang-gun Sports Council and Gochang-gun Athletics Federation.
Due to the race course of "Public Stadium - Wolgok Underpass - Jugok Rotary Intersection - Dolmen Site," road traffic will be restricted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the 20th.
A county official said, "To ensure a safe event, the Gochang Fire Station and Gochang Health Center will operate medical support teams," adding, "Safety personnel and traffic control officers will be deployed throughout to thoroughly manage safety."
