Purpose of Strengthening Company Competitiveness, Enhancing Organizational Efficiency, and Improving Work Expertise
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] Homechoice is actively responding to changes in the online video service (OTT) market environment and seeking innovation and transformation for a new leap forward.
On the 17th, Homechoice announced that it has carried out an organizational restructuring and recruited new personnel to develop its new businesses: the nationwide integrated win-win platform 'Gazi' application and the 'O’choice' app. It launched the Future Business Promotion Team and appointed former T-cast Executive Director Lee Young-guk as its head.
Lee Young-guk, a Seoul National University Business Administration graduate, is an expert who has worked in the broadcasting and telecommunications industries for over 30 years. After joining Daeycom (currently LG Uplus) in 1995, he moved to CJ Group in 2004, overseeing various media-related businesses.
Based on his experience and know-how, Lee Young-guk plans to devote all his capabilities to overcoming the difficulties currently faced by the cable TV industry and aiming for the industry's resurgence.
Meanwhile, along with the launch of the Future Business Promotion Team, Homechoice is implementing organizational and personnel restructuring. Under Lee Young-guk’s leadership, the Future Business Promotion Team will provide free VOD to cable users via mobile through Gazi and operate the 'O’choice' app business. Additionally, the company will systematize the organization to leverage departmental expertise.
Gazi is a regional content portal service planned in collaboration with 14 regional cable TV broadcasters across 78 districts nationwide, led by the Korea Cable TV Broadcasting Association, to secure competitiveness in the broadcasting market. As a win-win platform connecting and integrating regions, it offers opportunities for everyone to experience valuable content from local communities that were previously little known. The 'O’choice' app is a system that allows 8VSB subscribers and digital cable subscribers to watch free VOD based on TV set-top boxes and mobile devices.
General Manager Jeon Yoon-soo said, "After long and careful consideration of various factors, including improving employees’ work efficiency and expertise and the potential impact of our new businesses, we decided on the organizational restructuring. Along with this restructuring and the recruitment of new external personnel, please look forward to the diverse business areas Homechoice will develop in the future."
