[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Hyundai Transys has embarked on creating a 'Carbon Neutral Volunteer Forest' through voluntary step donations by its employees.

On the 17th, Hyundai Transys announced that it signed a business agreement for the creation of a carbon-neutral forest at Hongye Park in Hongseong-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, together with Chungcheongnam-do and the Chungcheongnam-do Volunteer Center, and held a commemorative tree planting and plaque unveiling ceremony.

About 20 people attended the event, including Lee Pil-young, Deputy Governor of Chungnam Province, Park Seong-soon, Director of the Chungcheongnam-do Volunteer Center, and Hong Sang-won, Head of Hyundai Transys P/T Production Headquarters.

The 'Carbon Neutral Volunteer Forest' is a forest being created by Chungcheongnam-do and the Chungcheongnam-do Volunteer Center, with the first forest established last year in Yesan. The volunteer forest in which Hyundai Transys is participating this time is planned to be created in Seosan, where the business site is located.

Deputy Governor Lee, who attended the event, said, “As carbon neutrality is urgently needed for future generations, I ask Hyundai Transys, which played a leading role in this event, to continue to take a deep interest.”

Executive Director Hong said, “The carbon-neutral volunteer forest creation project, which will be developed together with Chungcheongnam-do, is also expected to play a significant role in responding to the climate crisis,” and added, “We will continue to strive to create a healthy forest and build a sustainable future.”

To practice carbon neutrality, Hyundai Transys employees participated in the 'Together, T-Walk' walking campaign through a walking application, raising 100 million KRW in sponsorship funds.

Through this campaign, employees donated over 80 million steps, achieving a reduction of approximately 13.5 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. Calculated as a carbon-neutral effect, this is equivalent to planting about 2,053 pine trees.

In addition, Hyundai Transys is promoting the achievement of RE100 by converting all electricity used at its business sites to renewable energy by 2040 to strengthen ESG management. It is enhancing environmental capabilities by reducing greenhouse gases and waste and developing products applying eco-friendly technologies.

Hyundai Transys plans to further expand eco-friendly management and continuously establish a foundation for carbon neutrality to actively participate in responding to the climate crisis.
