[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Kia announced on the 17th that it has prepared a multi-family housing charging solution for electric vehicle (EV) customers living in apartments, villas, and other multi-family residences.
The multi-family housing charging solution, introduced through a business partnership with the EV charging operator 'Home&Service,' is a program designed for customers hesitant to purchase EVs due to the difficulties of installing chargers in multi-family housing.
Home&Service, a subsidiary of SK Broadband, is a charging operator that provides comprehensive charging solutions including charger installation consultation, on-site inspection, activation, and maintenance, currently operating around 6,000 chargers nationwide.
The newly prepared multi-family housing charging solution is targeted at Kia EV customers, and upon service application, it will handle all practical and operational tasks necessary for charger installation, including consultations with resident representative meetings and on-site consultations.
In particular, with the mandatory installation of EV chargers for 5% of total parking spaces in newly constructed apartments and at least 2% in existing apartments starting this year, it is expected that more customers will wish to install chargers.
Multi-family residences that complete practical tasks such as consultations with resident representative meetings will have either 3kW outlet-type or 7kW slow EV chargers installed.
If on-site consultation reveals difficulties in installing chargers within the multi-family housing, support will be provided to install chargers in the applicant’s office or in a preferred area.
The costs incurred for charger installation are basically free, and charging fees are reasonably calculated to ensure that EV users do not bear any burden when using the chargers.
Additionally, Kia has improved customer convenience by shortening the process where customers previously had to find EV charging operators themselves and call to apply for charger installation.
A Kia official stated, "This solution was prepared to minimize the inconveniences customers face when installing EV chargers in multi-family housing," and added, "We will continue to introduce charging solutions tailored to the lifestyle of Kia EV customers."
