About 370 boxes of kimchi made that day will be delivered to low-income households such as single-parent families and people with disabilities in the area through the Yeongdeungpo-gu Social Welfare Council.

As the winter kimchi-making season arrives, heartwarming Love Kimchi Sharing events for the underprivileged are being held throughout Gangseo-gu (Mayor Kim Tae-woo), bringing touching warmth.

On the 16th, a ‘Kimchi Sharing Event’ prepared jointly by the Hwagok 1-dong Community Service Center, civic groups, and Hwagok Senior Welfare Center was held at Healing Church located in Hwagok-dong.

About 70 participants, including Mayor Kim Tae-woo, the Tongchin Association, and volunteers, made 2,400 heads of kimchi and delivered 10kg each to 480 vulnerable households such as elderly living alone and single-parent families.

Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “Although our skills are not perfect, we made the kimchi with care thinking of the elderly who will spend the cold winter,” and added, “I hope the kimchi filled with warm hearts will be of some help to neighbors in need.”

On the same day, members of the Saemaul Women's Association at Hwagok 6-dong Community Service Center packed 1.5 tons of kimchi into 15kg boxes and delivered them to 100 households of middle-aged single-person households (ages 50-64) and elderly living alone.

Also, at Gonghang-dong Community Service Center, members of the Residents' Autonomy Committee and local residents directly made kimchi and delivered 200 boxes of 9kg each to the underprivileged in the area, adding more meaning to the event.

Additionally, on the 18th, a Gangseo Market Kimchi Sharing event with the Saemaul Women's Association will be held at the Agricultural and Fishery Food Corporation.

About 200 people, including members of the Saemaul Women's Association, the corporation, and distribution organizations, will gather to make kimchi. The kimchi, totaling 14 tons in 1,400 boxes of 10kg each, will be delivered to low-income families and welfare facilities in the area.

Moreover, residents' autonomy committees, Yeokmaeul Volunteer Group, Hope Dream Group, and even companies will participate in kimchi sharing events throughout the region.

The warm-hearted gestures from all walks of life continue, making the spirit of neighborly love in Gangseo-gu very strong despite the cold weather.

Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “I deeply thank everyone who readily extended their warm hands for the kimchi sharing event for the underprivileged despite the cold weather,” and added, “The district will also make multifaceted efforts to ensure vulnerable groups can spend a warm winter.”
