[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Korea Forest Service held a 'One-Day Forest Management Experience Event' in the national forest of Boeun, Chungbuk.

On the 17th, the Korea Forest Service announced that about 120 people, including officials from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, eight national critical energy facility agencies, Chungbuk Province, and Boeun County, gathered at the Korean red pine management model forest in Jangjaeri, Jangan-myeon, Boeun-gun to hold the one-day forest management experience event.

The event was organized to widely inform the public about the effects of forest management projects. It aimed to raise public awareness of the increasing scale and frequency of forest disasters due to climate change and the growing uncertainty of predictions, thereby spreading the importance of proactive forest management.

On the day, the Korea Forest Service also signed a memorandum of understanding for mutual cooperation on 'Strengthening Integrated Forest Management of National Critical Energy Facilities' with national critical energy facility agencies including Korea Gas Corporation, Korea National Oil Corporation, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Korea South-East Power, Korea Midland Power, Korea Western Power, Korea South Power, and Korea East-West Power.

The agreement focuses on mutual cooperation among the agencies in forest management projects around national critical energy facilities for wildfire prevention, forest protection activities such as wildfire prevention, and other necessary detailed tasks.

Im Sang-seop, Deputy Director of the Korea Forest Service, said, "The reason we can enjoy various values from forests today is because the public has participated in planting trees and nurturing forests." He added, "The Korea Forest Service will do its best to maintain and manage forests so that the public can continuously benefit from forest resources in the era of climate crisis."
