[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] The governments of South Korea and Indonesia adopted the 'Green Transition Initiative' on the 14th and agreed to expand eco-friendly infrastructure projects to respond to climate change.

The Ministry of Environment of South Korea and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing of Indonesia held a ministerial meeting in Bali, Indonesia on the same day and reached this agreement, the Ministry of Environment announced.

Starting next year, the Ministry of Environment plans to support the distribution of electric vehicles and charging stations in Bali, Indonesia using Official Development Assistance (ODA), and to expand cooperation on Indonesia's water management policies, led by the new capital city project named 'Nusantara.'

Indonesia has established a roadmap to increase the share of electric vehicles to 30% by 2035, and is promoting the construction of the new capital city Nusantara under the goal of relocating the administrative capital from Jakarta on Java Island to East Kalimantan on Borneo Island.

Han Hwa-jin, Minister of Environment, said, "We will deepen the scope and depth of cooperation between the two countries by encouraging public-private investments for climate change adaptation and greenhouse gas reduction in the Asia-Pacific region and by expanding climate change response projects."
