National Gyeongju Cultural Heritage Research Institute Academic Conference on the 16th
The National Gyeongju Cultural Heritage Research Institute will hold an academic conference on the theme of "Civil Engineering Techniques of Silla and Gaya" at the Lahan Select Hotel in Gyeongju on the 16th. The conference will compare and review recently investigated earthen fortresses, embankments, and tombs of Silla and Gaya to shed light on the civil engineering techniques and architectural culture of ancient societies.
Presenters include Kim Hyun-bong from the National Gaya Cultural Heritage Research Institute, Jo In-gyu from the Gyeonggang Cultural Heritage Research Institute, Lee Bo-kyung from the Uri Cultural Heritage Research Institute, and Choi Kyung-gyu from the Dong-Asean Cultural Heritage Research Institute. They will discuss topics such as the construction techniques of earthen fortresses in Geumgwan Gaya and Ara Gaya, the construction techniques of local Silla earthen fortresses, the construction techniques of embankments in Silla and Gaya, and the construction techniques of large burial mounds in Gaya and Silla.
Following the presentations, a discussion will be held with participants including Hong Bo-sik, professor at Kongju National University, So Bae-gyeong from the Samgang Cultural Heritage Research Institute, and Jo Mi-rae from the Institute of Korean Cultural Heritage. The event will be live-streamed on the National Gyeongju Cultural Heritage Research Institute's YouTube channel.
