[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Kakao Pay announced on the 14th that it will launch the 'Account Guardian' service.

Through this service, accessible via the 'Assets' tab on KakaoTalk or the Kakao Pay app, users can check at a glance whether accounts linked to MyData (personal credit information management) have been stolen by others or registered as suspicious fraud accounts. Accounts connected to Kakao Pay asset management can be verified for safety all at once. The service also includes a feature that allows users to separately check whether the recipient's account is a suspicious fraud account when sending money to strangers or conducting secondhand transactions.

Kakao Pay developed this service focusing on cases where infrequently used accounts are exploited for crimes without the account holders' knowledge. A Kakao Pay representative stated, "We will continue to consider and implement various measures to strengthen the financial consumer protection infrastructure."
