[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Emart is throwing a big celebration to commemorate SSG Landers' KBO League overall championship. Jeong Yong-jin, the 'SSG Club Owner' and Vice Chairman of Shinsegae Group, who formally expressed gratitude to fans for SSG Landers' overall championship in just their second year since establishment, has already announced a discount event.

According to the distribution industry on the 14th, Emart will hold the 'SSG Sale' celebrating SSG Landers' victory from the 18th to the 20th. The day before, Vice Chairman Jeong took the lead by announcing the SSG Sale dates through his social media (SNS). Some Emart stores also started SSG Sale marketing on SNS with the slogan 'It’s landing time.' A group-wide integrated event is also planned. An Emart official said, "We are in the final stages of coordinating the detailed event contents."

Earlier, Vice Chairman Jeong expressed his gratitude to fans for achieving the first place in total regular-season attendance among all KBO teams as a baseball team based in Incheon, saying, "We exist because of you. Thanks to you, we had a truly happy season." SSG's total attendance for the 2022 season was 981,546, with an average of 13,633 spectators per game.

In a gesture of mourning for the Itaewon tragedy, Emart and Shinsegae Group affiliates decided to cancel the annual group-wide discount event 'SSG Day.' Each company quietly concluded some pre-promised brand events without promotion, but with SSG Landers' victory, they planned a large-scale event, reviving the 'November peak season' atmosphere.

The group companies are also pulling out bold sale cards to celebrate SSG Landers' victory and Black Friday. W Concept is holding the largest year-end event with the biggest volume of the year for two weeks starting today. Over one and two-week periods, about 1,000 major brand products will be offered at discounts of up to 90%. SSG.com is holding the 'SSG.com×SSG Landers Overall Championship Celebration Comment Event' until the 30th, drawing 2,022 winners to receive prizes. Prizes include the players' autographed '22 Season Home Authentic Uniform and Baseball,' the 'Albi Bag Cheer Food Pack' filled with various snacks in a reusable cooler bag, and up to 50,000 won in SSG Money. At SSG.com Shinsegae Department Store Mall, popular sportswear brands such as Dynafit and Snow Peak are being sold at discounts of up to 70%.

At Emart24, until the 17th, customers who scan the integrated barcode on the Emart24 app and pay for eight baseball-related food items can enter a prize draw for a caravan worth 20 million won. The 'Kim Kwang-hyun KK Lunchbox,' consisting of side dishes favored by player Kim Kwang-hyun, is sold for 100 won when paid with Kakao Pay Money. Five popular baseball stadium foods, including baseball stadium lunchboxes, baseball bat kimbap, and long sausage hot dogs, receive an additional 50% discount when paid with BC Paybook.

Meanwhile, Emart posted its highest-ever quarterly sales (7.7074 trillion won) in the third quarter, showing a solid performance. Excluding one-time costs related to the acquisition of SCK Company and Gmarket shares and the Starbucks summer carry bag issue, operating profit (100.7 billion won) also met market expectations. In the fourth quarter, Emart plans to strengthen the 'Shinsegae Universe' through integrated online and offline memberships. Industry analysts expect that with offline maintaining solid growth and e-commerce profitability improving, a full-scale structural improvement will begin next year.
