[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Goodoc, the nation's number one healthcare platform, is promoting a win-win cooperation with Jin Mobility, the operator of i.M Taxi, and i.M Genie (driver).
Goodoc announced on the 14th that it will cooperate with Jin Mobility's i.M Genie welfare policy. Jin Mobility will implement a policy to support taxi drivers affiliated with the company for medical expenses incurred from non-face-to-face medical consultations received through Goodoc until March next year.
Goodoc cited the limited medical access of taxi drivers currently operating as the background for this cooperation. Taxi drivers find hospital visits inconvenient due to commuting times and long-distance driving, often missing appointment times. The company explained that the purpose is to support the health improvement of taxi drivers through non-face-to-face medical consultations, allowing them to select their preferred doctor and receive consultations inside the taxi while working, with medicine delivered to their homes.
Due to the nature of their work in confined spaces for long hours, taxi drivers are exposed to many diseases. According to a 2020 labor environment survey of taxi workers conducted by the Korean Federation of Trade Unions Central Research Institute, 56.2% of taxi drivers expressed concerns about chronic adult diseases. The rates of those reporting respiratory and digestive system pain were 67.0% and 59.8%, respectively. Recently, there has been a case where a taxi driver with over 20 years of service was recognized for occupational disease due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Jinseok Lim, CEO of Goodoc, said, “Goodoc’s greatest advantage is easy non-face-to-face medical consultation regardless of time and place. We are considering ways to increase medical opportunities for groups with low medical accessibility, including taxi drivers, people with disabilities, and residents of island areas, thereby practicing social value. Through this cooperation with Jin Mobility, we hope to contribute not only to the health improvement of Genie drivers but also, to some extent, to resolving the recent taxi crisis by improving the taxi work environment.”
Seongwook Lee, CEO of Jin Mobility, said, “Taxi drivers have a lot of mobility due to the nature of their work and tend to be in the higher age group, so prompt medical care is a very important issue. We implemented this as one of the win-win support policies in cooperation with Goodoc to enhance the convenience of Genie drivers.”
